Right of Weigh

Who gets the right of way through a doorway?
An old woman or a pregnant woman?

  1. Sorry Erin, I'd say the old woman. Chances are she's already been pregnant. She has one up on you- or maybe several.

  2. i agree with naomi. unless, of course, you're in the midst of labor. then preggers trumps age.

If the old woman doesn't have a cane, you. If you're not carrying groceries, her. If she's having a hard time carrying her purse the size of a small cow, her. If you're feet are so swollen, you're wearing flip-flops in 35-degree weather, you. If you're not in a wheelchair or powerchair and she is, her. If she's not in labor and you are, you.

Wait, what was the question again? :o)

  7. Maybe it depends on how old or how pregnant the women are.

This reminds me of the time Wade and I were at Panera (we treated ourselves once a month when I was pregnant with Emily) and not only was I not offered first entrance through the door, but poor Wade ushered in the elderly/retired couple approaching the entrance with "age before beauty...er, um, beauty before age...no that doesn't work either. Never mind!" Poor Wade just smiled sheepishly after that.

I think I may have shared that story the night we saw 'Bella.' Sorry if twas a repeat!

  9. yea, I don't even think there are extenuating circumstances- always the old woman, even if you are carrying groceries or 3 weeks overdue.
