Confession.

I am obsessed with conserving energy--and I'm a republican!
Haha. Anyway. I think it started with my reusable grocery bags. Then I saw a girl on Oprah who cut her energy bill in half by unplugging all the appliances in her home.
Now, I unplug everything. The microwave, the clock in Shirley's room (she doesn't need it, right?), lamps that are not in use, the VCR, the toaster, the coffee pot, the washer and dryer. You name it. If it's not in use, it's probably unplugged.
Also, I sit in the dark a lot of the time. And I lay awake at night trying to think of ways to cut back on our energy consumption. If we didn't have the baby I swear it would be 60 degrees in here.
If I could figure out a way to do it, I would unplug the fridge...I just don't think it would be wise.
I think it's getting a little weird.

Next time you come over, would you mind bringing your own slippers and candle?

No Title Needed: This one speaks for itself.

An old friend of mine from Alabama posted this on her blog last week:
The Luck of the (apparently) Irish
At our faculty meeting, we got yelled at for a new thing. Mushed in between all of the old things, we got yelled at because our children misspell words. Also, apparently, some teacher misspelled something. All 43 of us should be ashamed because of this one person's mistake. After we were verbally beat down about grammar from the Queen of Grammar Mistakes ("let me reiterate that again" is her favorite phrase), she passed out the "O'bama Inauguration Packet."

O'BAMA? Like, O'Hurley or O'Donnell? This guy. Wow, he is like the United Nations all crammed into one person.

I know, right???
She's freaking hilarious. Check her out.

Death by Adverts

I'd like to point out to allllll you people who just couldn't want for the political ads to be done that now we have to watch Christmas ads.

Shirley wants YOU...

to VOTE!

Yes, I took my baby to the polls dressed like this. That is my right as an American: to dress up my child in crazy patriotic getups and parade her around the gymnasium of a Lutheran church to see all the elderly ballot counters.

God Bless America.

Guess what we did today...

Senator McCain spoke in Lakeville, Minnesota today, so SJ and I picked Lauren up from work and we headed south! It was fun to go see the people supporting and opposing the Republican ticket. AND we SAW McCain! He waved and smiled at me and SJ (I'm not kidding!) as they drove by in his motorcade! It was VEERRRRRRYYYYYY exciting!

Lakeville South High School, where Senator McCain hosted a town meeting.
Supporters.
Checking out the (very, very nice) protesters.
Baby loves politickin'.
The big Mc was in the third Tahoe back.

Ross Perot

I prefer not to talk politics on the internet, but I just can't let this go by.

A friend told me tonight that Ross Perot is lobbying to be on the presidential ballot as an independent party.
Is this true?
Someone, please educate me.
Who would be his running mate? Ron Paul?
Does this guy have an abyss of money?
Can he bail out our economy?

Upon further thought:
Does he also secretly possess a fountain of youth somewhere in his great big house?

Poll

Since my smell post has crashed and burned, I've decided to add a poll.
I've been thinking about Hillary a lot lately and how terrifying it is that she could possibly be our next leader. Fearless, perhaps. But trustworthy and honorable? I just don't see it.
Please don't tear me to shreds. I am ABSOLUTELY not interested in a political debate.
Anyway.
Vote in my first poll!
