I have a theory.
I think that Sesame Street records approximately FIVE new shows per calendar year. Then, they slice and dice them to make a year's worth of shows.
I've suspected this for a while, but this morning it was confirmed. I remember this from my childhood:

Oh for sure! Eva and I have only been watching for a month and a half, and this morning's entire episode was a complete re-do of one we've already seen together...
You're right. Public television doesn't have a very big budget, I guess. They're recycling.
