It ain't easy being green.

I invested in one of those reusable grocery bags.
I know.
Honestly, it was for more selfish reasons than green reasons. I'm so tired of plastic bags everywhere. Ev.er.y.where.
I've used it four times now, and I have to say, it's a refreshing change, AND it holds twice as much as a regular plastic bag.
Here's the thing, though: typically at Walmart, I use the "self-check" aisle, which is not green bag friendly. After the fifth item that "skipped bagging," I had to get special approval from the head cashier. By then, I had smashed my bread, the toddler with her mom in line behind us had thrown a frozen pizza into my pile of stuff on the conveyor belt, and my baby had woken up.
As I walked out, I realized I had forgotten the item I went in for.
Sigh.
I didn't go back.
I mean, I can live without maxi pads. Less waste in a landfill, right?

We were checking out tonight at the grocery when we realized at the same moment that we had forgotten our 'green' bag. We are environmental retards, but we're trying.

Here's how law abiding your uncle Jeff is, he wondered if stores would let us use a bag from another store. How cute is that?

dangit!
i'd say that's a tricky toss-up. didn't someone once blog about an alternative though - maybe you should check into it ;)

I find that those green bags are not as re-usable as the plastic ones when walking the dogs...
I guess the responsible, green thing to do would be to leave the dog-mines where the dogs put them.

Great post, Erin.

Hey, I've been hesitant to buy those green bags because they look so small. Glad to know they at least hold more than it appears.

Aunt Kris, I wondered the same thing. In fact, I asked Lauren, "Can I use my Cub bag at Target?" She said, "I guess we'll find out, won't we?" Nobody seemed to mind and there were lots of other moms using Cub bags. : )

I aspire to be Judy Jetson. Push that dinner button. Push that Walmart button.
